Why you Need to Declutter your Home

Our homes are our home’s base. They are the places we start our day, and end our day.  They are the places that we raise our families in, the places we sleep and eat in. We spend so much time in our homes.  Therefore our homes need to feel comfortable and relaxing.

If your home is cluttered and untidy, you won’t feel good at all about being in your home.  It has been shown that clutter in your home can greatly affect your mental health.

You want to enjoy your home, and enjoy the time you spend with your family in your home, so make it tidy and decluttered so you can feel great in your home.

Why you Don’t Want to Declutter Your Home!

You know that you need to declutter your home and make it clutter-free. But you don’t want to do it! Because decluttering takes time.  It takes time and effort, and you probably feel like you don’t have the time, and you certainly have better things to do than put in the effort to declutter and do all that sorting and organizing?

But by tackling it bit by bit, stage by stage, it is going to be so achievable for you!  Sign up for the 30-Day Declutter Challenge right now, and every day you will be guided in small steps.

The 30-Day Declutter Challenge

My 30-Day Decluttering Challenge is a month-long plan to guide you through decluttering your home, room by room, area by area, space by space.  It is a completely FREE email course. If you don’t like the course you can unsubscribe at any time. You are under no obligation to complete the course.

Each day, for 30 days, you will receive an email giving you something to focus on that particular day.  Don’t worry, not every day is going to be crazy. There will be some rest days! And also don’t forget you are only expected to do something for 15-20 minutes a day or so. You can do more if you want to, but I want to make it manageable and not overwhelming for you.

The course also features catch-up days. So if you don’t get to something on a particular day, or you just didn’t have time, there will be plenty of opportunities to catch up and do those things.

You can sign up for the 30-Day Decluttering Challenge right here.  If you don’t want to wait the entire 30 days for one email per day, there will be options for you to get it all at once up front when you sign up.

Decluttering will make you feel so much Better!

If you frequently walk into a room, and just want to cry or walk back out again because of the mess, and all the stuff in there, you need to declutter.

Seeing rooms packed with stuff just makes us feel anxious and upset.

But the trouble with starting a decluttering project is that it is just so overwhelming.  If you have a lot to declutter you probably just can’t see the wood from the trees. You can’t think clearly.  You just have absolutely no idea where to start, how to do it, and what to do.

That is why I am here to help you. I will help you know what to do, how to do it, and show you tips and suggestions along the way. While no two homes are the same, the rules of decluttering are the same for everyone, and I will help you out with those.

Are you Afraid to have People Visit Your Home?

I know of so many people who say this.  And you know what – that is just so sad. You should not be ashamed to invite somebody into your home.

But you don’t have to feel like this if you just get rid of the stuff you have piling up. Once that stuff is out of the way, you can organize your home, you can decorate it, make it lovely and make it work for you.

You can have a home you are proud to show off to others, and a home that you love being in and spending time in.

What to Ask Yourself When you Declutter

Whenever you set about starting a decluttering project, there are questions that you should ask yourself:

Do I regularly use this item?

Do I love this item, does it give me joy?

When did I last use this item?

Would somebody else need this/use this better than me?

Am I keeping this item just for sentimental reasons?

Am I saving this item just because I think I may need it one day, someday?

Is this item taking up too much space in my home?

Do I have something else similar or the same as this item?

If I get rid of this item, what is the worst thing that could happen?

Does this item have a real purpose in my life?

If you consider these questions each time you debate getting rid of something, it will greatly help your decision.  Sometimes it only needs the process of us asking and going through these questions in our minds that frees us up to make that final decision.

The 30 Day Decluttering Challenge will guide you through those decisions that you have to make, item by item, room by room.

What to do with the Items you are Decluttering

Deciding whether or not to keep a certain item is the hard part. After that it gets easy!

If you have decided to get rid of something, you now have to consider what to do with it. You have several choices there:

Put it somewhere else in your home

Donate it

Give it away to a friend or relative

Trash it

Recycle it

Sell it

It’s really quite simple!  If it is something in good condition that somebody will want or need, donate it.  If it is not in good condition, is torn or broken, trash it.

If it is worth something, and in good condition, why not make some additional cash and declutter at the same time by selling it?

If it is plastic or a recyclable material, recycle it.

You can create areas and containers in your home for these things. A recycle bin, a box for donations, a box for the stuff you will be selling.

I also sell a book, Declutter Your Home: Complete Guide & Workbook which is a complete guide and workbook to decluttering your home.  If you need a full guide, and workbook to complete as you go along with the challenge, you can buy it here.  If you take the challenge you will also have an opportunity to purchase the book later on too.
