How to Make Easy Classic Banana Bread
Ingredients needed for Easy Classic Banana Bread:
2 Cups Flour (all-purpose is best)
3 bananas (medium sized. If using small bananas use around 4) Peeled and mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter or vegetable oil (softened to room temperature)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions for Making Easy Classic Banana Bread:
Preheat your oven to 350F
Grease and line with parchment paper a loaf pan (9×5 size is perfect) (tip: Greasing the loaf pan first will make the parchment paper fit easier into the pan)
Mash the bananas
Combine the following dry ingredients together in a small mixing bowl: Flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon.
In a medium to large bowl, combine the butter (or vegetable oil), and sugars. Mix together with a hand mixer until the mixture is combined and fluffy.
Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the mixture, and mix together. Stir in the mashed banana.
Add all the dry ingredients to the mixture, and mix together well. If you want to add any additional ingredients of your choice, now is the time to mix them in (see below under Additions to make Banana Bread even Tastier for ideas).
Pour the mixture in the loaf pan (which has been lined with parchment paper and greased).
Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes. You will know the bread is done once you insert a toothpick into the center and it comes out clean.
Once you remove from the oven, leave for about 5 minutes or so to cool down. Then remove the bread from the pan, and let cool completely on a baking rack.
Additions to add to make Banana Bread Even Tastier!
If you want to add some different flavors and variety to your banana bread, there are many different ingredients that you can add in.
Chocolate Chips. Chocolate chips are the perfect addition to banana bread! Just stir in a cup or so!
Nuts. Nuts are great to add to banana bread. Some of the best nuts to add are walnuts and pecans.
Fruit. Fruit can be added to really flavor up your banana bread. Blueberries are a good addition, as are most berries.
Tip: To prevent any additional ingredients just sinking to the bottom of your banana bread, dip and swirl them in flour first, before placing in the mixture.
How Long will Banana Bread Keep For?
Banana bread should keep for around 5-7 days, but only if you store it the right way. You can store banana bread at room temperature. But make sure that it is wrapped in foil or plastic wrap (zipper bags are also good).
Banana bread can also be frozen. Just store in an airtight container or zippered plastic bag. Banana bread should last around 8-12 weeks when frozen. If you do freeze your banana bread, thaw it completely at room temperature before eating.
Use up over-ripe bananas and make a tasty, delicious, moist and sweet banana bread!
